Overview

During November 2025, Flight Providers continued our commitment to digital accessibility by implementing comprehensive improvements to the website footer. This report details the accessibility enhancements made to improve accessibility for users with disabilities.

Major Improvements

Image

Updated logo alt text from "Flight Providers" to "Flight Providers - Premier skydiving destination in Missouri" for better context. Added explicit width and height attributes to improve layout stability and screen reader support.

Enhanced logo alt text with descriptive business information in the alt attribute. Added proper image attributes for better screen reader support.

Accessibility Focus Management

Added visible focus rings to all interactive elements in the footer. Improved tab order and focus management throughout footer sections. Added proper security attributes to all external links.

Screen Reader Support

Added comprehensive ARIA labels throughout the footer:

  • Footer element includes role and descriptive aria-label
  • Navigation links include descriptive labels
  • Contact links include descriptive labels for email and phone
  • Social media links include descriptive labels indicating platform and that links open in new tabs

Added screen reader only text for icon-only links. Marked decorative icons with aria-hidden to reduce screen reader clutter. Enhanced footer structure with proper semantic elements.

Text Legibility and Contrast

Improved text legibility throughout the footer by making all links and text white for better contrast against the dark blue background. This enhancement ensures:

  • All navigation links, contact information, and descriptive text are now white for maximum readability
  • Consistent color contrast across all footer elements meets WCAG AA standards
  • Improved visual hierarchy and clarity for users with low vision or color vision deficiencies
  • Horizontal dividers use white with opacity for subtle separation while maintaining accessibility
